Hi all....
This is going to be kind of a long post....
End of May, marked the end of my son's first ever school year. Needless to say, I was more emotional than him...of course he had no idea what was happening. Just two weeks into vacations now, and he's already getting fidgety, and confused as to why he cant go to school anymore. Im currently on the hunt for a good summer camp that offers something apart from arts and crafts, because he gets plenty of that with me ;)
Anyhow! As I was saying I was emotional because his teachers have brought him a long way this past year, made him wiser than I could have. I hold all teachers in high esteem. My mum has been a teacher since I was born... most of the important decisions (academically) had been teacher-directed for me.
I always chose to make something for my son's teachers at different holidays, as a token of thanks, and an attempt to brighten their day a little after all the hard work and patience they put forth. So as an end of term gift this year I made these keepsake bottles for them....
I know I didn't want the regular photo frames (although I did those for a client keeping with the school theme)
The bottle features a photograph of my son with his two class teachers, along with a heart cutout that says thanks, each bottle has the teachers initial (handcut) with defining words (S: sweet, smart, simple and N: nice, noble, novel) the flags on top say Love Learn Fun. which is what school was for him!
Just so over the years the teachers don't forget, the back of the bottles had a who, when, what, where feature ala Life project style. Also a cute quote which was put up as a main feature.
I was just not satisfied and kept doubting myself, debating whether it was a gift worth giving even! But my craft guru friend kept cheering me on. Do let me know what you guys thing of these colourful bottles!
Here are some other projects that my clients, old and new, ordered from me
These were a set of post-cards, entirely hand cut and hand crafted, with a LOT of layers! which don't seem as many in the picture here, weird.
The client sent me a picture for reference, of some rather angry owls.... I wanted mine to look cuter... but someone told me mine look more surprised! The belly is a dictionary page with the meaning of the words wise, wisdom and so on...
The same client ordered a set of chocolate sliders (a hot seller at ATS! but with only those who had the chance to see them in person live at the Crafter's Expo Last year)
The top was decorated with a lot of fussy cut images keeping with the school theme. The name tags were composed & printed by me too.
When you pull out the chocolate at the top a message comes out of the bottom
I loved these so much myself that I made a set for my son's other teachers too. With a little alteration, the tree that pops up is Oak, my son's sports house logo, also said to depict wisdom. And the sentiment is the good old "Thanks for helping me grow"
Another client after a lot of discussions got these done. Altered Photo frames, done on the same theme, with hand made embellishments..
The globe and books you see, as well as the teensy crayons are all handmade!
These went in handmade boxes, which my son helped me with (the hand prints!)
The boxes were further layered with a fussy cut pennant, and a stamped image rendered with good ol' Faber Castells. The lil girl in the image was chosen because she sort of resembled the little girl from who these gifts were :)
Lastly, I had sent a googled image to the client to give her a feel of what her things would look like. She ended up falling in love with the wreath in the sample picture!!! And so I had to go on a hunt for a wreath, which aren't as popular here. I ended up making ALL the "charms" (except the bus and the odd buttons) on the wreath myself!
Well that's it from the End of School theme. I know it was an overload in one post....but didn't want to do the same theme in five different posts. Do leave feedback as to what you guys think about these projects.
Much Love :)
